Up a busy dual carriageway a cyclist had come off his bike and was lying in the middle of the road. There was a lot of blood and a few cars had stopped, unable to get past. Lots of people were milling around. Using the skills you taught us ('Danger! Response!') I was able to introduce myself to the cyclist (who was semi-conscious), disperse the crowd, and identify another first aider who tended to the cyclist. I was able to speak to the 999 phone responder, the police who arrived shortly after, and the paramedics in a calm, concise way - even though my heart was pounding!

I was also able to help calm the person who found the cyclist - a young lad who was newly qualified as a driver and experiencing a bit of shock.

Your training meant that I handled the situation, a proper hand over to emergency services was made, and first aid guidelines were followed. The cyclist was ok in the end too :)

Thanks so much - our training day was hard work but the proof is in the pudding - it works!
